Breakthrough with Jessica Nazarali : Is It Time To Hire A Coach?

Hey everyone, I hope you’re having an amazing day! I wanna share with you, a topic that has been coming up with a number of my clients, in private coaching sessions. It’s also something which has come up in my business, a number of times over the years, as well. In fact, it happened just the other day.

I recently signed up to a program, and it’s not related to business it’s actually related to mindfulness and growing within. It’s a great program, that went for a couple of weeks. At the end of it, there was an option to do a followup program and work with this coach directly. Afterwards I thought, “Wow, this is really cool.” And then I thought, “Is this really the next level that I need?” Because truth be told, I was happy with the progress I made. I kinda wanted to go to the next level more from an ego perspective.

I wanted to graduate and do the next thing, because that’s just my background.

Then I really checked in with myself, and I thought, “Okay, well, A, the time zones that she coaches in don’t work or me. It’s gonna be really early in my morning and I’m not a morning person. That side of things is gonna make it really difficult. And B, I’ve just been opened up to this concept she was presenting.

Even though I’ve been into personal development and mindfulness, and these things for a number of years, her unique take on it, is a little bit different. And so I thought, “Mm, why don’t I just sit with the content that I have? She has a book and I’m reading it. If in the future, I feel like I need to do more, I could work with her privately and she also has another online group course that I could take.

But, do I need to do it right away? Is there an urgency factor? Am I missing out, by not doing it right away? I asked myself that question, and I realized, no I wasn’t. I was very happy with the pace that I’d gone. As I was going through this process of asking myself these questions I was very mindful of holding myself accountable.

“Am I backing out of something? Am I not stepping up and not stepping forward? Am I gonna miss out on something which is gonna completely change my life, and everything for the better?”

No.

I think ultimately, you know, before you sign up for any program, work with any coach, you need to sit with yourself. Because you’re the one, ultimately, who has to commit to showing up, and you’re gonna have to be doing work, and you have to make sure that you’re fully able and willing to commit to that transformation.

And I wasn’t. So I said, “No.” But I’m still going through the program, and reading her book, and I very well may take the next step, sometime in the future. So, if you’re considering taking a course, or working with a coach, that’s a really important question to ask yourself.

“Am I fully ready to commit to what I need to do, in the next three months, two months, six months, to get that transformation? And if I don’t commit now, what are the downsides?”

When I looked at it, I couldn’t see any real downsides of me not committing now, versus potentially committing again in the future. Because I am happy with the progress I’ve made in this area of my life, and I don’t feel the need to go super deep, really quickly right now.

With other things I have going on in my life in business, I felt like getting up at 5 AM to do coaching calls, wouldn’t really be of service to me. But I really sat with that, and I thought, “Okay, well, what is the cost benefit of doing it now, versus doing it later? If at all.” And so really sit with that.

So, when is it a good time to hire a coach?

Are You Ready To Commit?

Something that I really like to do on discovery sessions is get the potential client to think about where they are now and what steps they can take to move in the direction of there goals. It’s a great question to gauge commitment. Because if you’re saying you want clients and you wanna make a change, how are you gonna feel in three months time, if you haven’t already made that change?

And sometimes the client, you know, they might be saying they really wanna have clients, but they’re like, “Oh actually you know what, I do want clients, but the next three months, I’m really busy, and I’m not gonna be able to commit to it. So, it actually wouldn’t make sense for me to commit now, because I would end up committing and paying for something, that I can’t take action on right away.”

Commitment level is super important, so check in with yourself around that. A question that often comes up is, “Well, shouldn’t I try to do this myself, for say, six months? And then if I don’t have success with it, then I could maybe sign up, and work with you if I’ve tried to do it myself, and I haven’t gotten results.” Now this is a really interesting question, because how long are you going to wait, until you see some type of results?

 

Can You Handle It Yourself?

I would say, typically, if you have had a goal in your mind for say, a week, and you aren’t taking strides towards making it a reality. Say, you’re saying, “Okay, well yeah, I wanna be fully booked with clients.” but you’ve been thinking about it for a week and haven’t actually done anything to get closer to that goal, you’re not taking action, you’re not moving forward. If that’s the case, and it’s been a week, in my personal experience, things probably aren’t gonna shift that much, from a week, to a month, to six months, to a year.

Sure, you probably do little things, maybe watch a few trainings, you might try a few things here or there. But, typically, if you were the type of person who would just do it themselves and get results, once you’ve had the idea and you’ve thought about it, you have already taken massive action, to make that goal happen.

For example, I have a friend, she is really into working out, she’s super fit. She would never hire a personal trainer, ’cause she will have the realization, “Oh, I wanna have more defined abs,” and then she’ll be at the gym that afternoon, doing a routine, to get more defined abs. So, she doesn’t need a personal trainer, ’cause she’s actually already living it.

So, the chances are, if you’re thinking, “Well, do I need support in this area?” If you’re thinking about it, and you don’t yet have the result that you want in your business, and you’re not making the strides towards that result, chances are the answer is, “Yes.”

And having support would fast track the process and all-in-all, just make it a more fun and enjoyable process, as you grow your business, or make whatever change you wanna make. This applies, not just in business scenarios, really in any area of your life.

Do You Need To Be Held Accountable?

The final reason, to look at hiring a coach, is if you need accountability. Now, you might think, “Well, can I get accountability from my mom, or best friend, or dog (I don’t know how a dog would give you accountability, but, you know) or maybe even an app.

Potentially.

But what is the app, the dog, the best friends, the mom, your sister gonna say, if you’re not actually following through? This is where having a coach who can actually coach you when you’re getting stuck, when you’re not hitting your goals, and work at, “Okay, well is there a limiting belief? Is there a block? Is there something we need to work through, in order for you to achieve results, that you wanna achieve?”

That is one of the main reasons, that with inside our programs, we have a big focus on accountability, and we give you one-on-one coaching sessions. Because we find that, without one-on-one coaching, it is very easy to fall off track and to go through information, which you may not know how to apply it exactly to your unique business. Then you get overwhelmed, you get confused, and then you don’t make progress.

So, if you are the type of person who has been saying, “Okay, I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do this.” And you set mini goals, maybe on a week or a monthly basis, but you’re not hitting those goals, having a coach to hold you accountable to those goals, is gonna be really powerful.

Because unlike just telling a best friend or even a partner that, “Hey, I’m gonna do this by Sunday.” If you don’t do it by Sunday, in the next coaching session, the coach is gonna say, “Okay, well why was that? Why didn’t you do it by Sunday? Do you need help with managing your schedule? Are you not doing what you say you’re gonna do, ’cause you’re worried about being judged? Or what’s the underlying cause of this reason?” ‘Cause it typically goes deeper than, just not being able to find the time.

I hope you found this useful, and you can, of course, apply this, if you’re considering joining any program. But also, as you’re doing discovery sessions as well, ’cause the potential client, is likely thinking this in the back of their minds. So, if you could think of it from their perspective, and really be able to help you, to overcome some of the objections that come up.

You’re gonna find that, A, you’re gonna be of best service to that client, ’cause you’re guiding them, and you’re showing them, “Okay, well, this really would serve you.” If the program is in their best interest, and you know you can help them, it really is your responsibility, to help them to see that, this is the choice for them, and this is gonna help them, to step into what it is they want, in their life and business.
