Q.  Why did you become a coach?
A.  I teach and mentor what I have had to discover and learn for myself – that self-love is the key to having the life your desire. I used to think I was somehow born into a particular life and way of feeling and for many many years I lived as victim to that conditioning. I didn’t realise I had a choice. I didn’t realise that I didn’t have to live on an emotional roller-coaster, in a career that didn’t fulfil me and in relationships that were full of drama and upset. Despite appearing to the world as if I had life sorted, with a successful corporate career, adventurous travels and always with a man by my side – the truth was I felt deeply unfulfilled, anxious and without any real sense of self. When I discovered a way free of feeling so trapped in my own skin and able to create a life that felt purposeful and loving I simply had to share all I learned with women just like me.

I decided to coach because I knew I could authentically support women with a similar story to mine. They are able to trust me because I have ‘been there and got the t-shirt’ and my mission is to save them hitting rock bottom before discovering a different way to do life. I am living proof that when you love yourself you experience love on so many levels, every single day. It’s miraculous and I love that I get to guide others to discover that truth for themselves

Q.  Aside from coaching what do you love doing?
A.  I am a bit of a day-spa addict! I love to swim, do yoga and sit in the steam room. I grew up by the beach in Sydney so it’s in my blood to love being by the sea as much as possible. My other passion is travelling – I get bored of being in one location for too long and exploring the world is the perfect antidote. I get so excited boarding a plane!

Q.  What was the scariest thing about starting your business?
A.  I wondered what people would think! To go from being an International Event Organiser to Self-Love Mentor was quite a change of course! It didn’t happen overnight – there were a few years in between when I worked part time in corporate while training and setting up my new business. I also launched a product line featuring Affirmation designs while transitioning into coaching. The move from corporate to personal development was the best thing I ever did and actually most people I know fully supported the change because they could see just how lit up I was and the way my work was positively affecting women’s lives. So, I really had nothing to worry about!

At the end of the day, however, my confidence in my abilities and belief in myself trump all of those silly thoughts. When embarking into new territory I think that it’s completely natural to try and get your footing, but once you’re rooted that’s when momentum occurs!

Q.  What would you tell someone who is just starting out as a coach?
A.  Be committed to knowing yourself deeply and let your business, your message and your style of coaching be an authentic reflection of that. Coaching is all about authenticity. Trust and respect is key with clients and they greatly value self awareness and integrity. As a coach I prioritise self mastery so I invest a great deal in coaching, my health and spiritual connection because it’s important to be at my best for my clients. Being the highest version of your true self and having your message be an authentic reflection of that is crucial.

Katie_Phillips_Standing_medQ.  What is the best thing about your business?
A.  I am blown away by the women I get to work with. They are just so awesome! I see their light and their potential and it is so beautiful to witness them journey to seeing that in themselves too and living life in a way they never before dreamed possible. It’s very humbling to be a part of that journey!

Q.  What exciting plans are you working on at the moment?
A.  I have just secured the locations of my 2015 Two Day Private Retreats! I will be working in Sydney, Paris, Sussex, Santorini, LA and Florence. I create a beautiful and very bespoke experience for each client ensuring deep transformation, relaxation, adventure and indulgence. These retreats are a chance to dive deep into who you are and what you desire to create for your life. It’s two days all about you with my focussed attention and support throughout. I’m particularly excited for the first retreat in Sydney at the beginning of March – not only will we be staying at the stunning ‘Jonahs’ on Whale Beach, my client will arrive there by sea-plane! It will be a truly Daring & Mighty experience with deep and long lasting transformation. I’m so excited for the women who will be working with me on location!
