Q. Why did you decide to start your business? It Girl of the Week - Elsa
Deep down, I always knew that one day I’d want to run my own business. But for years, I travelled the “safe” route of a corporate career. As a Biological Engineer, I had the opportunity to work as a business analyst in London for several years, covering healthcare companies for a top investment bank. Then, after completing an MBA in Holland, I was offered a nice, cosy position with an international oil & gas company.

For many, these might have sounded like dream jobs. (And I certainly appreciate the chance I got to work for these incredible companies). But after a few years in, a little voice inside would invariably whisper: “You’re meant to be doing something else!”

I tried to ignore it for as long as I could. But after becoming a mum, that little voice started shouting louder and louder.

I couldn’t stand spending my days in a job that I wasn’t passionate about while my baby girl was left at daycare.

Plus, what was I modelling for her? I wondered…

I want to set an empowering for my daughter that she can be and achieve whatever she desires. And me settling for less, just wasn’t cutting it.
So it was my daughter that gave me the final push to leap from the ladder, leaving my corporate salary and benefits behind, to start my own business doing what I truly love — which is coaching.

Q. Aside from your business, what do you like to do for fun?
Holidays with my family in beautiful and inspiring locations. We travel to our home countries, Portugal and Slovenia, several times a year. And it’s a pleasure to discover together hidden gems like, lovely boutique hotels, spas, amazing beaches and glamorous wine regions.
Aside from that, I love personal development. So you’ll often find me devouring self-empowerment books and coursesIt Girl of the Week - Elsa

Wellness and fitness are also super important to me. So I read extensively on the subject. I also practice a mix of yoga, Pilates and Ballet Beautiful on the daily.
Finally, fashion, beauty and style have been another lifelong passion of mine, and have been toying with the idea of starting to sketch fashion again.

Q. What would you tell someone who is considering starting a business and becoming an It Girl Entrepreneur?
The It Girl Entrepreneur is a brilliant program if you are just starting out as a coach or consultant, and you’re wondering how to get your first paying clients.
Jessica has a very strategic and streamlined approach that takes you step-by-step through all the systems and structures that you need to put in place.
Plus, you can feel that she genuinely cares about her clients, and the support she provides during the live group alls is just invaluable.

Q. What is the best thing about your business?
The best thing about my business is that I finally get to do what I truly love and feel I’m meant for! What’s more, I’m helping other women improve their own lives in the process, so I feel that my work really is valuable.

Additionally, I don’t know of any other profession that would give me the same freedom and flexibility to be present with my family, and be the mum and wife I’ve always wanted to be.

Q. What exciting plans are you working on at the moment?
I’m preparing to launch an exciting new program that brings together three of my greatest passions: Branding, Self-Empowerment and Style.

It’s a private coaching program specifically designed for women entrepreneurs who want to build a powerful Personal Brand that reflects who they truly are, so that they feel confident in themselves, easily attract their ideal clients, and make the consistent income they desire in their businesses.

I believe that Personal Branding is not only the key to sustainable success as a coach, consultant or service provider. It’s also a fantastic personal development tool to help you step into the best and most beautiful version of yourself.

Q. What does being an It Girl Entrepreneur mean to you?
To me, being an It Girl Entrepreneur means being confident in yourself and creating success in your own terms. It means knowing who you are, how you desire to show-up in the world, and what you want to achieve in business and life. And then smartly going for your dreams, not being afraid to make bold decisions and take calculated risks when required.
